The Zero Tolerance Policy The Church of the Nazarene has adopted a zero tolerance policy for sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior with minors. All workers, leaders, and pastoral staff are to be above reproach in their conduct and to act in the best interest of others. This requires not only that they themselves refrain from engaging in any abusive or suspicious behavior involving minors; they will also be required to report without delay to the proper authorities anyone seen engaging in such behavior. The Nazarene Church has partnered with MinistrySafe to create Nazarene Safe™.
As per the request of the General Church of the Nazarene, All persons who work with children and teens MUST be NAZsafe certified. This includes watching videos pertaining to safety and sexual abuse prevention.
Nazarene Safe is a series of training videos and quizzes meant to help inform, teach, and certify all people working with children. It's a way for volunteers to be aware of behavior that might indicate previous or current sexual or physical abuse to a child, and provide assistance in what to do if they suspect that abuse has occurred.
This training must be completed before participating in KCN’s VBS ministry. Please note there will be no exceptions to this requirement. Working with our children is a privilege, not a right. A criminal background check will be required of volunteers. Information requested on the form is required in order to complete the background check. Your information will be held in strict confidence and used only for the purpose of the background check.
