A former child star, Gavin Stone, reaped fame and fortune on a sitcom. People were only looking at him these days as the subject of TV tabloid segments with clichéd cautionary captions like, "Where Are They Now?" This former child star is back in his hometown of Masonville, Ill., and he’s in trouble. After trashing a hotel Gavin's been sentenced to 200 hours of community service. Gavin's assignment seems to be about as far removed from his experiences as it could be: Masonville Bible Church. It isn’t long before Gavin wanders past the church's auditorium where there are drama auditions taking place. And it’s evident to him that the would-be cast is in need of some divine intervention itself. Soon Gavin is auditioning for the role of Jesus. Never mind that he doesn't know much about church, Bible or Jesus himself. Never mind that he lies about being a believer. No, never mind any of that. Gavin's just desperate to be in the spotlight one more time. Little does he suspect that the role he covets will providentially shine its own spotlight on his broken life and needy soul. Note: A movie geared towards children will also be shown at the chili cook-off in their own separate area with adult supervision will be provided Helping Hands Helping Hands is in need of peanut butter, green beans, corn, and personal products Crisis Care Kits Below is the list of items & quantities we need for Crisis Care Kits: Shampoo-9 Bar soap-24 Toothpaste-9 3 pk. Faith Promise This year we will be hosting the Mullin family. On February 3, there will be a meet & greet from 2-4 pm. We are inviting churches from our zone to join us for this time of fellowship. Sunday, February 4, Joel Mullin will be speaking as part of our Faith Promise service. Sanctity of Life Today is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. This day was created as an act of love in response to the Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court to legalize abortion in the United States. The Bible tells us that we are created & purposed from our mother's womb, but the dignity of life goes so far beyond that. We are called to be voices & advocates for all life, & especially for those who cannot speak for themselves. When we choose to see people as God does, we are moved to love others in a way that honors our creator. Being pro-life is a worldview -a life view- that should transcend culture, class, race, age & opinion. Crisis Care Kits We are gathering supplies for Crisis Care Kits.
